Summary
PROJECT OUTREACH
Composite Recycling Description
The recycler as a whole should be able to get fed the material/composites, the feed rate mechanism should control the feed rate, the frame should delaminate the carbon fiber into layers, and the shredder at the end will cut the material into pieces. When it’s in pieces, the recycled composite pieces will then get burned with fire for the resin to burn and disintegrate while the fiber will be left for reuse.
Technical Merit
Structure design that will be able to withstand the loads of the delamination process.
Requirements:
The frame should withstand material being fed into it without damaging the composure of the frame in any way.
The composites should be able to be delaminated as it goes through the frame area.
Optimization Opportunity
Being able to make the frame compact, while using the least amount of material in the process, while still having full functionality.
Challenges
Controlling the feed rate so that the material is fed through the machine in a controlled fashion.
Being able to collect the recycled pieces in a controlled manner (not flying out though the back of the shredder.
Making the frame adjustable while staying stable when adjustments are made.
Figuring out how many shafts to put in the delaminating area.
Help Needed
I will need the material to make the structure.
I would need fasteners.
Tips on how to make the vise
Be able to machine the structure for the mechanism to run smoothly.
